To keep riding through autumn and winter you need apparel that will shield you from the elements and make you feel comfortable heading out in all conditions. The GripGrab ThermaShell Water-Resistant Bib Tights are your leg wear solution – a versatile construction offering waterproof and windproof protection with great insulation against rough riding weather.
These bib tights utilise the same high-stretch softshell fabric as the GripGrab AquaRepel Leg Warmers: this three-layer fabric features a 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable membrane to shield your entire legs and lower back from the worst winter weather and rear wheel spray. The protective fabric has a four-way stretch profile to allow for a close and comfortable fit, with maximum freedom of movement.
In areas without the fully waterproof membrane fabric, such as the underside of the thighs, back of the knees and waist, a soft brushed fleece fabric is used to offer added insulation and body-mapping stretch. This fleece fabric, like the other fabric panels, is treated with a PFC-free Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment – so it effectively shrugs off rain showers and rear wheel spray.
The padding in the ThermaShell Bib Tights is unique – it comes in the form of a superior level seatpad fitted within removable GripGrab Ventilite Padded Liner Shorts – to wear underneath the unpadded outer bib tights.
The Elastic Interface LIÈGE HP seatpad guarantees comfort during long distance rides thanks to the high-density foam inserts; these are strategically positioned to offer pressure relief on the pelvic track, seat bones and perinea. The perfect combination of perforated foams of different densities ensures exceptional breathability and maximum freedom of movement.
The liner shorts themselves are made from a mix of high-stretch fabric and exceptionally breathable mesh, with a wide elastic waistband to minimise pressure points. Elastic grippers with silicone gripper dots on the hems keep the shorts firmly in place, even when worn underneath the tights.
When getting home, brush off the dirt off your tights while cleaning your bike – and they’re ready for the next ride. Meanwhile, you can keep the liner shorts on to complete your training with some core and stretch exercises indoor. The removable liner shorts concept means that you can wash the shorts without needing to wash the complete set of bib tights after each ride: this is better for the tights as they retain their waterproofing and performance for longer, and a lower washing volume is better for the environment. This product construction will also allow you to ride during consecutive days without having to worry about washing and drying your bib tights, by simply rotating the inner shorts or Summer bibs that you wear under the long tights.
