on PFAS in clothing, shoes, and impregnation agents.
This ban means that from July 1st, 2026, Danish companies, including GripGrab, cannot
sell or import the covered product categories to consumers.
We share the general concern about PFAS, and we, therefore, welcome this ban.
PFAS (short for per- and polyfluoroalkyl
substances) are a group of human-made chemicals that have been used in many everyday products like non-stick cookware, water-repellent fabrics, and some food packaging. Today, up to 12,000 PFAS have been identified, many of which are already banned in the EU.

We are very aware of the concern about PFAS, and we share it. PFAS are often called “forever chemicals” because they break down very slowly and can stay in the environment — and in our bodies — for a long time. Some PFAS have been linked to health risks, which is why the EU is working to reduce or eliminate their use.
The Danish government has introduced a ban on PFAS in clothing, shoes, and impregnation agents. For us at GripGrab, the ban means that from July 1st, 2026, we cannot sell and import clothing or shoes that contain PFAS. Luckily, we have already implemented initiatives to get rid of PFAS in all our products. For instance, we only use PFC-free (C0) Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment on our clothing and equipment. This means that the coating we add to make our clothing and equipment water repellent does not contain PFC, which is a group of chemicals that includes PFAS, PFOS and PFOAs.

Unfortunately, since PFAS are widespread in the environment, in rare cases, tiny traces of PFAS can be found in a product. These traces are not something we have deliberately added, and we are actively working to eliminate even the smallest occurrences.
If you have any questions about our PFAS, you are always welcome to contact us - we will be happy to answer openly, because transparency is part of our responsibility.
