The GripGrab RIDE Thermal Long Sleeve Base Layer is your go-to option for all winter activities; from cycling to running and even skiing. It uses a two-layer blended fabric mix, to provide outstanding thermal regulation, a super soft next-to-skin feel and fantastic wicking capabilities and breathability.

To keep you fresh and odour-free, this base layer features Polygiene® treatment (biocide: silver chloride). Its 'Wear More. Wash Less®' technology uses silver ions to reduce the build-up of odour-inducing bacteria. The treatment is entirely safe to wear against the skin and doesn’t wash out. Reduced bacteria build-up leads to reduced odour and therefore reduced washing frequency, meaning that Polygiene® can also significantly extend the life of a base layer and minimise its environmental impact.

Look to the Ride Thermal Long Sleeve Base Layer for day after day warmth as you ride through the winter.

FAQ

Why should I wear a base layer for winter cycling?

  1. The first reason is the most obvious: we layer up when it is cold, whether that is for a 100km bike ride or a walk to the shops.
  2. The second way in which a winter cycling base layer can keep you warm and comfortable happens once you have worked up a bit of a sweat. That sweat, by its very nature, has a cooling effect that is very welcome on a hot summer's day, but can soon be a problem in the winter months. A sweaty torso will quickly be chilled by a long descent following a hard climb, but a moisture-wicking base layer will move perspiration away from the skin to reduce any discomfort caused by the rapid cooling effect of sweat.
  3. Finally, a base layer provides additional comfort in the winter months by preventing irritation potentially caused by the seams of a winter jacket or jersey.

Is this thermal base layer warm enough for conditions around sub-zero temperatures?
That depends on both your overall clothing selection and the intensity of your ride. Worn underneath a long-sleeved jersey, it won't be warm enough for deep winter. With a winter jacket, it can be suitable for sub-zero temperatures as well.

Is this base layer also suitable for other sporting activities off the bike?
Both the fit and cut of this base layer are optimised for cycling, so that it doesn't bulk underneath a long-sleeved jersey or jacket. You can also wear it for training sessions off the bike.

Does the Polygiene Anti-Odour treatment wash out?
Polygiene is applied directly to the fabric, which means it is permanent and will not wash out. Polygiene silver salt technology is only active on the textiles themselves. Polygiene is not nanosilver.
